Today I am highlighting new to me artist, Jeffrey Gibson. A Colorado born, Choctaw, Cherokee, artist who currently lives and teaches in Upstate New York.

I am intrigued by his story and search for identity the same way I was intrigued when I first came across Kehinde Wiley’s work on one of my visits to the Brooklyn Museum.
I was headed to Colorado for a workshop (you can read about it on my previous post) and decided to arrive a day early to explore a bit of Denver. Which really translates to I wanted to visit a museum. Namely, The Denver Art Museum, where I encountered Jeffrey Gibson’s art for the first time.
Oh, how happy I am to have found him.
You can read more about Jeffrey Gibson and his work here, here and here. Enjoy!
