I spent this past week at the Durham Arts Council teaching an intersession camp on the theme of Norse Mythology. After days of chalk pastels, paint & sharpie markers, running home to work on some of my own art, cooking, exercise, etc. etc. I was regretting having made plans for Friday. Part of me just wanted to go home and crash on the couch.

I had tickets to NCMA’s Art in Bloom Exhibition. It is a yearly four day event featuring floral interpretations of art in the museum that I’ve missed every year since moving to NC. So despite how tired I was feeling, I wasn’t going to miss it this year.

I made plans to meet my friend straight after work so I wouldn’t go home first and lose momentum. You know how it is once your home and don’t want to go back out.

Well, all of my sluggishness disappeared as soon as we arrived to the museum. The parking lot was buzzing… it was gorgeous out… and then we walked into all of this stunning color.

I got to share a beautiful evening with a lovely friend surrounded by these gorgeous creations. What joy! Our evening continued with dinner & vino, and ended with a little boogie.
