As promised, my monthly round up of books…

I go down to the shore in the morning
and depending on the hour the waves
are rolling in or moving out,
and I say, oh, I am miserable,
what shall—
what should I do? And the sea says
in its lovely voice:
Excuse me, I have work to do.”
This lovely book sits on a table in my bedroom, besides my gratitude journal. I was introduced to Mary Oliver’s story and her poetry fairly recently. I am always in awe of people who overcome adversity with grace. She lived her life grateful for the beauties of this earth and dedicated her work to it’s creatures and it’s bounty. One of my favorite poems is written above. I read it often in the morning to remind me that there is work to do. No whining, no complaining.

The Artist’s Journey by Nancy Hillis: A book to aid in cultivating my art practice.

My childhood friend, older sister and I started a virtual book club this past October. She’s in San Francisco, sis is in London and I’m in North Carolina. Three different time zones will be tricky for virtual book talks, but we’re excited to make it work! Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman was our first read.

I know I mentioned no more books here but I could not help myself. I love Kelly Wearstler’s aesthetic and this book is chock full of inspiring spaces and color. A stunning resource for home decor and art.
